Ad-funded phone network Blyk to launch in Belgium

Blyk has signed a deal with operator Mobistar, which should make Belgium the second launch country for the ad-funded MVNO.

The radical Finnish-owned firm has been in business in the UK since last September.
Blyk is a network for 16 to 24 year-olds, which offers an amount of free texts and voice calls funded by advertising. It recently announced it had passed 100,000 subscribers, and counts well over 50 advertisers


Massive rise in memory card-enabled phones

Over one billion phones will ship with memory card slots by 2011, says Strategy Analytics.

It is predicting that shipments will grow at an average 13 per cent per year over the next five years. The market watchers new report says 592 million “slotted” phones were shipped worldwide in 2007, representing 53 per cent of the total.


Warner Music is the third major label on Nokia “Comes With Music”

Warner Music has joined the Nokia “Comes With Music” project, leaving just EMI as the only major still to sign.

Warner joins Universal and Sony BMG in offering a year’s worth of ‘free’ music downloads on selected Nokia handsets. Comes With Music is expected to launch in the second half of 2008 in selected territories.

Warner Music content will also now be available through the Nokia Music Store, which is available in Australia, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Singapore, Sweden and the UK.
